Bhubaneswar: A total of 1,22,590 electric vehicles (EVs) have been registered in Odisha over the past three years, Commerce & Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena informed the Odisha Assembly on Thursday.

In a written response to a query by BJD MLA from Basta, Minister Jena shared that 10,388 EVs were registered in 2021-22, 32,333 in 2022-23, 52,025 in 2023-24, and 27,844 in 2024-25 (up to November 24).

Here is the table sharing details of the electric vehicles registered year-wise in the State:

Highlighting government efforts to promote EV adoption, Jena pointed to the implementation of the Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy-2021. Under this policy, EV buyers are exempt from motor vehicle tax and are eligible for subsidies.

These include ₹5,000 per kilowatt, up to a maximum of ₹20,000 for two-wheelers; up to ₹30,000 for three-wheelers; and ₹10,000 per kilowatt for four-wheelers, with a maximum cap of ₹1,50,000.

The Minister also noted that efforts are ongoing to establish EV charging stations across major cities in the state, aiming to further support the growth of the electric vehicle ecosystem.
