Over 2.26 Lakh Govt Posts Lying Vacant In Odisha: Minister

Bhubaneswar: As many as 2,26,559 government posts are lying vacant in the State, informed Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari in the Odisha Assembly.

Pujari shared the information in the House while replying to a question by BJP lawmaker from Sundargarh Kusum Tete on Monday.

The Finance Minister quoting the Annual Establishment Review stated that currently, 3,98,577 employees are working in various departments of the State government.

He, however, maintained that contractual employees and employees given extensions upon superannuation are not reflected in the Annual Establishment Review.

This information in detail is available in the respective departments, he added.

However, Pujari informed that currently 78 contractual employees and 85 employees given extensions upon their superannuation are working in the Finance department.

He said that the highest number of posts, 55,830 are lying vacant in the School & Mass Education Department followed by 36,045 in Health & Family Welfare Department, 26,798 in Home Department and 11,522 in the Higher Education Department.
