Bhubaneswar: A total of 285 criminal cases, including 52 murders and 97 rapes, have been registered in the Bhubaneswar Urban Police District (UPD) over the past 9 months, as informed by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in the state assembly on Monday.
In response to a query by Khariar MLA Adhiraj Mohan Panigrahi, Chief Minister Majhi shared the details of the crimes, which include 52 murder cases, 97 rape cases, 10 dowry homicide cases, 1 dowry suicide case, 37 dowry torture cases, 44 non-dowry torture cases, 42 cases of minor girl rapes, and 2 gang rape cases in the Bhubaneswar Urban Police District (UPD) during the last 9 months.
The Chief Minister also provided detailed data for all 30 districts in the state, including Bhubaneswar UPD, Cuttack UPD, and others such as GRP Cuttack, GRP Rourkela, and CID CB.
In addition to the crime statistics, Majhi assured that the government is working on several measures to curb these criminal activities and enhance safety in urban areas.
