Bhubaneswar: A total of 392,458 beneficiaries in the state have already received the increased social security pension of Rs. 3,500 per month under the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana (MBPY) and the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), informed Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Minister Nityananda Gond in the state assembly on Friday.
The minister clarified that the pension amount, which was raised from Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 3,500, is being provided to beneficiaries who are either 80 years of age or older or those with a disability of 80% or more.
The enhanced pension amount was introduced in January 2025 and has already been distributed to the eligible recipients.
Minister Gond shared the information in response to a question by Athagarh MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain. The minister noted that both MBPY and NSAP beneficiaries who meet the age or disability criteria have benefited from this increase.
In addition to the announcement, the minister provided district-wise data showing the breakdown of beneficiaries receiving the enhanced pension across Odisha.
The data indicates that a maximum of 200 beneficiaries per district with a disability of 80% or more have been sanctioned the social security pension.
In another update, Minister Gond informed the assembly that 4,373 beneficiaries in Cuttack district are currently awaiting the disbursement of their social security pension.
A detailed block-wise list of these pending beneficiaries has been shared for further review.
