Bhubaneswar: Over 30 kilograms of gold ornaments were seized from a train at Bhubaneswar Railway Station. The Government Railway Police (GRP) have detained four persons in this connection.
Reportedly, the gold ornaments estimated to cost around Rs 16 crore were found in four bags inside the Konark Express that runs from Mumbai to Bhubaneswar. The detained persons have been subjected to interrogation.
The detained persons were identified as Hasmukhlal Jayant, Suresh Sahdev Khare, Mahesh, and Deepak Padel, all residents of Mumbai.
While they claim to have been supplying the gold ornaments to jewellers, they are not disclosing the name of their clients. They have allegedly evaded tax and lack E-Way Bills (EWBs) for the movement of the ornaments.
