Bhubaneswar: A total of 6002 missing children cases have been registered in Odisha since 2016 as per a data of the Odisha Crime Branch presented by Women & Child Development Minister Tukuni Sahu.
Sahu had tabled the data in the Odisha Assembly in reply to a query of Congress MLA Suresh Kumar Routray on the number of children missing, traced and cases registered during the financial years from 2016 to 2019.
In 2019, a total of 602 children, including 502 girls and 100 boys, have gone missing upto March 31. While police have traced the whereabouts of 79 girls and registered 455 cases, whereabouts of 31 boys have been traced and 95 cases registered.
In 2018, a total of 2334 children, including 1875 girls and 459 boys, had gone missing. While police have traced the whereabouts of 854 girls and registered 1720 cases, whereabouts of 285 boys have been traced and 396 cases registered.
In 2017, a total of 1851 children, including 1360 girls and 491 boys, had gone missing. While police have traced the whereabouts of 737 girls and registered 1265 cases, whereabouts of 309 boys have been traced and 413 cases registered.
In 2016, a total of 1792 children, including 1291 girls and 501 boys, had gone missing. While police have traced the whereabouts of 700 girls and registered 1219 cases, whereabouts of 308 boys have been traced and 439 cases registered.
