Bhubaneswar: Electric vehicle (EV) registrations in Odisha have experienced approximately 85.2% growth from 2021 to 2025, as informed by Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena in the state assembly on Thursday.
Responding to a query from Rajanagar MLA Dhruba Charan Sahoo, Minister Jena revealed that the state has registered a total of 1,61,338 electric vehicles over the past five years. These vehicles now account for 1.35 percent of all motor vehicles in Odisha.
Minister Jena highlighted the following growth figures from 2021 to 2025:
- 2021: 5,626 EVs registered.
- 2022: 28,447 EVs registered, marking a 405.63% growth rate.
- 2023: 44,545 EVs registered, reflecting a growth rate of 56.58%.
- 2024: 65,977 EVs registered, with a growth rate of 48.11%.
- 2025 (as of March): 10,423 EVs registered.
In addition to these growth figures, the Minister also shared district-wise data detailing the number of EV registrations across various regions.
