Puri: A total of Rs 28,58,500 in cash was seized from a passenger at Puri Railway Station on Friday. The money was detected during the scanning of his luggage.
Railway Police Force (RPF) seized the cash and detained the passenger. He has been identified as Uday Kumar of Narsipatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
Uday was trying to board a train from Puri to Visakhapatnam yesterday evening when the RPF scanned his luggage and found the money.
During interrogation, Uday claimed he has received the money after selling a land, however, the RPF has initiated a probe to ascertain the truth.
