Angul: In yet another incident of man-animal conflict, a 65-year-old woman was trampled to death by an elephant at Jamunda village under the Bantala forest range in Odisha’s Angul district on Friday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Baidehi Pradhan, a resident of Jamunda village.
According to reports, the elderly woman had gone to a nearby mango orchard on Friday morning where she came face to face with an elephant. The pachyderm attacked Baidehi and trampled her to death on the spot.
The elephant had reportedly entered the village in search of food.
On being informed, local police and Forest Department personnel arrived at the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
