Bhubaneswar: Union Education Minister and senior BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan has conveyed his best wishes to BJD candidate Barsha Singh Bariha for her victory in the Padampur bypoll.
“We accept the result of Padampur bypoll. My heartiest thanks to all the voters who voted for our party. Respecting the mandate of the people in a democracy we will try to further strengthen the party in the coming days through peoples’ welfare and public relations. Best wishes to the victorious candidate” tweeted Pradhan in Odia.
Barsha Singh Bariha of the BJD defeated her nearest rival, Pradip Purohit of the BJP by a margin of 42,679 votes.
While Bariha got 1,20,807 votes, Purohit bagged 78,128 votes. Congress party candidate Satya Bhushan Sahu received 3,594 votes.
