Bhubaneswar: Nomination papers of two candidates out of the 13 who had filed nomination for the Padampur bypoll have been rejected during scrutiny.
The candidates whose nomination papers have been rejected are Jayant Thapa and Debabrata Sunani.
Both Thapa and Sunani were Independent candidates.
Now 11 candidates are in the fray. This was informed by Returning Officer Trilochan Patra.
BJD’s Barsha Singh Bariha, Pradeep Purohit from BJP, and Satya Bhushan Sahu from Congress are among the remaining 11 candidates who have filed their nominations for the by-election.
As per schedule, the last date for withdrawal of candidature is November 21.
The voting will be conducted from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on December 5 and the counting of votes and declaration of results will be conducted on December 10.
The bypoll was necessitated following the death of BJD MLA Bijaya Ranjan Singh Bariha on October 3.
