Bhubaneswar: Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Wednesday said that paddy procurement in the state is progressing smoothly, with 14 lakh metric tonnes procured so far across 19 districts.
Addressing the media, Patra said certain demands had been raised by millers, which were discussed with officials.
“Yesterday, we held discussions with the millers and agreed to their request for three months’ custody maintenance. Orders have been issued accordingly,” he said.
The minister added that millers had also requested reimbursement for transportation costs, which will be addressed in due course. Following the agreement, he said, the protest by the millers has now been withdrawn.
Patra emphasised that the state government remains committed to ensuring a smooth procurement process and timely resolution of all stakeholders’ concerns.
