Jeypore (Koraput): Padma Shri Kamala Pujari of Jeypore was admitted to the district headquarters hospital after she fell ill. A team of doctors is treating her in a special cabin at the hospital.
Jeypore Sub-collector Prabhat Kumar Parida, Municipality Executive Officer Siddharth Patnaik, BDO Shakti Mohapatra met her at the hospital and inquired about her health condition.
Kamala is reportedlly down with anemia. The district officials discussed with the hospital superintendent Rabindra Nath Mishra and the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) over the phone.
The hospital authorities planned to shift her to Berhampur or Cuttack for better treatment. Koraput Collector Abdaal M. Akhtar is also making efforts to provide her with better treatment.
In August, last year, Pujari was admitted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) at Jeypore for fever and loose motion. Later, she was shifted to the SCB Medical College and hospital at Cuttack after her condition deteriorated.
Kamala Pujari, a tribal woman from Koraput is known for promoting organic farming. She was awarded Padma Shri in 2019 for her contribution to the field of organic farming and the promotion and preservation of traditional seeds. She preserved 100 varieties of indigenous seeds.
