Bhubaneswar: The Jagannath Temple in Puri will remain shut for five hours tomorrow to facilitate the sacred Paita Lagi Niti rituals of the Holy Trinity.

As per the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), devotees will not be allowed inside the temple between 5 pm and 10 pm while the rituals are being performed.

The Paita Lagi Niti is a revered ritual during which large quantities of rice, dal, vegetable curries, and cakes are offered to the sibling deities at the Bhoga Mandap Gruha.

During the ceremony, the servitors cover the deities with a special silk cloth called Basunga Patta, which is treated with sandalwood paste. The ritual is carried out by the Daitapati servitors of Srimandir.
