Bhubaneswar: The three-tier panchayat elections in Odisha are likely to get delayed as the State government is yet to complete the delimitation and reservation of wards.
“Under the prevailing situation panchayat elections are likely to get delayed,” informed Secretary, State Election Commission Rabindra Nath Sahu.
Sahu said that the tenure of Panchayati Raj institutions in the State will end on 10th March 2022.
“The first thing that is required before the conduct of elections is delimitation and reservation which is to be done by the State government. We have written to the government to complete delimitation and reservation,” clarified Sahu.
The government is yet to complete that, he added.
“After delimitation and reservation is completed by the government the Election Commission will take its next step,” stated Sahu.
