Bhubaneswar: One Zilla Parishad Member and 126 Sarpanchs have been elected uncontested in the ongoing panchayat polls process in Odisha. Similarly, 36,523 Ward Members have been elected as uncontested candidates, the State Election Commission informed on Wednesday.
“Kalpana Pradhan of BJD has been declared ‘elected uncontested’ as Zilla Parishad Member, of Zone No-2, Ambabhona Block in Bargarh District,” the SEC stated.
Elections to the post of Sarpanch for Dhinkia Gram Panchayat and 23 Ward Members will be held in 2023. The tenure of Dhinkia GP will be over in 2023 as elections were held in 2018, a press note shared by the SEC stated.
There are total 91890 Ward Member posts, 6,793 Sarpanch posts, 6,793 Panchayat Samiti Member posts, and 853 Zilla Parishad Member posts, for which the three-tier rural elections are being held in Odisha.
