Malkangiri: The Malkangiri administration has set up a model pink polling station in Tamasa gram panchayat to encourage the participation of women voters in the panchayat elections.
As the first phase of the polling begins today, women voters of Mv-7 village in Tamasa were glad to visit an all-women booth to exercise their right to vote.
A first time voter Shibani Takre was glad to cast her vote for the candidate she believes will do the best work for the region. She was nervous initially but was happy after giving the vote.
Nodal Officer Balamukunda Bhuyan informed that the pink polling station at Tamasa gram panchayat has been set up for 367 voters.
In the first phase of the polling, over 74,000 voters are to cast their votes in three Zilla Parishad Zones of Malkangiri block. As there are 88 sensitive booths, the district and police administration are on alert, he added.
