Bhubaneswar: The State Election Commission (SEC) today notified officers authorized to issue permission for sound (loudspeaker/mike) and use of vehicles during three-tier panchayat polls in the State.
Secretary to SEC RN Sahu issued a letter to all Collectors in this regard.
The letter stated that apart from the Sub-Collector concerned, all the local Tahasildars of the District may be authorized to issue Sound permission to the Contesting Candidates for the election purposes only. Permission in respect of the Blocks coming under the Commissionerate of Police may be issued by the DCP concerned, the letter added.
The permission for use of vehicles by the contesting candidates for Sarpanch and Panchayat Samiti Member will be issued by the concerned BDO and for Zilla Parishad Member by the Sub-Collector concerned, the letter further stated.
