Bhubaneswar: The State Government has allowed three days casual leave for Government employees to cast their votes in the upcoming three-tier Panchayat polls.
Principal Secretary Department of Panchayati Raj and Water Resources Ashok Meena wrote a letter to senior officials including Secretaries, RDCs and Collectors to allow 3-day special casual leave to Government employees who have registered as voter in Grama Panchayats to cast their votes.
The leaves include, one day prior to the poll, day of voting and another day after the poll. The written application by the employees showing their enrolment in Gram Panchayats will be sufficient to avail the leave, the letter stated.
The Collectors have also been authorised to declare the day of poll as notified for Blocks and Gram Panchayats as a holiday. The day of poll will also be declared as a holiday for Judicial Courts located within Block areas as per the State Election Commission’s letter issued on January 19, the letter further stated.
