Jajpur: Tension erupted in at least six booths of Jajpur district during the third phase of panchayat polls on Sunday. In the booths – 8,9,10, and 11 of Goleipur Panchayat in Korei block, miscreants disrupted elections when the polling was underway. Korei BDO Ranjan Parida was attacked in the process, said reports.
Senior police officials and the local Tahasildar rushed to the spot to take control of the situation. Similarly, in Booth No. 14 of Jari panchayat of Binjharpur block, police personnel were attacked. At least two policemen were injured while trying to disperse two groups involved in a clash over alleged booth rigging.
