Panic Grips Local Residents After Acid Tanker Overturns On NH-16 In Balasore

Balasore: Panic gripped residents after an acid tanker overturned on the National Highway 16 under Khantapada police limits in Bhagatpur of Odisha’s Balasore district leaking acid on Sunday morning.

The tanker was on its way to a shrimp processing plant in Bhagatpur village. As the tanker overturned there were reports of gas leaks creating panic among the residents. According to the driver of the tanker, he was transporting hydrochloric acid to a shrimp processing unit.

On being informed, police and Fire Services personnel arrived at the spot and sprayed water on the overturned tanker to stop leakage of any gas. However, no gas has leaked from the tanker till the time of writing this report.

The police have sealed the road from both ends to prevent any untoward incident.
