Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, a class VIII student of Dasmohapatra Banchhanidhi Government High School under Khantapada block in Balasore district, was found with a gun in his bag, sparking panic among students and parents.
The incident led to a protest outside the school, with parents demanding action against the student and guarantee for their children’s safety.
According to reports, fellow students spotted the gun in their classmate’s possession a few minutes before school closure and promptly alerted the school authorities. The principal immediately brought the matter to the School Management Committee. The committee quickly contacted Khantapada police.
Upon being informed, Khnatapada ASI reached the scene and seized the gun and took the student into custody.
However, parents surrounded the police, objecting to the officer’s attempt to take the student away, suspecting he was providing protection.
Police, however, handled the situation, rescuing the student from the crowd after two hours.
It is learnt that the student will be questioned about the gun in the presence of parents today, and the seized gun will be sent to the forensic lab in Bhubaneswar for examination.
