Jaleswar: A group of fishermen from Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district caught a massive “Koi Bhola” fish from the sea that weighed about two quintals.
They transported the giant fish to Digha of West Bengal, around 40 km from here for auction. The fish was sold for Rs 1.27 lakh.
A Kolkata-based pharmaceutical company purchased the fish after hour-long bargaining and counter-bargaining.
This kind of fish has some medicinal value.
It contains a lot of maw, from which drugs are made. This fish maw can also be sold abroad, according to reports.
This type of giant Bhola fish is caught rarely as it lives in the deep sea. The fisherman who catches this fish becomes wealthy with just one catch.
