Bhubaneswar: A CBI court here on Wednesday rejected the bail plea of Charchit Mishra, son of industrialist Mahimananda Mishra in connection with the Paradip Port bribery case. Mishra, who is also the Director of Orissa Stevedores Ltd (OSL), was arrested by the Central agency on August 6.
The court granted bail to another accused in the case, Sisir Kumar Das who was arrested along with Mishra. The court however turned down the remand extension prayer moved by the CBI.
On August 5, the agency arrested four persons, including a top official of Paradip Port, in connection with the bribery case. They were, Saroj Kumar Das, Chief Mechanical Engineer of Paradip Port, contractor Sumant Rout, KCT Group’s Manager (Port Operations) Sankha Subhra Mitra and OSL DGM (Operations) Surya Narayan Sahoo.
