Gubbala Ramulamma, a home guard serving in Paralakhemundi, Gajapati district, was shopping for vegetables at a local market on Sunday when she noticed a traffic jam at the busy Palace Chowk. Without hesitation, she took charge of the situation, directing traffic while still carrying her shopping bag and dressed in a saree.
A passerby captured the moment on video, which quickly circulated on social media platforms, drawing admiration for Ramulamma’s commitment to public service beyond her official duties.
Additional Director General of Police (Railways & Coastal Security) Arun Bothra lauded her efforts on social media platform X, stating, “Home Guard J Rabuluamma of Paralakhemundi came to the local market today to buy vegetables.
