**Nabrangpur: ** In a shocking incident, a four-year-old boy named Chandan Pujari was drowned to death in a pond on Tuesday at Chiliguda village due to sheer negligence of his parents.
Notably, Chandan along with her one and half year old sister, Baidi Pujari was going to Chiliguda Anganwadi Centre at 10 a.m without any escort. In the mid-way, they had stopped at a pond and started to play there. Both got drowned in the pond. The people working in the nearby field on unthreshed paddy rushed to their help hearing their cries.
They jumped into the pond to rescue the siblings. Baidi was alive when rescued but Chandan was found dead.
“Both the children had not reached the Anganwadi Centre today. The parents are supposed to drop the children at the Anganwadi Centre,” said Lalilta Naik, Anganwadi worker.
Meanwhile, the police rushed to the spot and has registered a case of unnatural death.
