Party Funds Not Enough To Meet Poll Expenses: OPCC Chief

Bhubaneswar: While the party will spend funds for contesting the Bijepur by-poll, it will be not enough to meet the expenses, said president of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Niranjan Patnaik on Sunday while reiterating his appeal to people to donate funds.

While Congress is not in a situation to match the expenses of ruling BJD and opposition BJP, there is need of some basic funds to contest the polls which needs cooperation and involvement of all. Money is not the matter, they can donate as per their wish, said Patnaik.

He informed that till date the party has received Rs 25,000 in cash and a commitment from an anonymous donor to send Rs 75,000.

It is worthwhile to mention that Congress candidate Dillip Kumar Panda will file nomination papers on September 30 in presence of senior party leaders including OPCC working presidents and Congress legislature party leader Naransingha Mishra.
