Passenger Falls Sick On Flight, Succumbs At Bhubaneswar Hospital

Bhubaneswar: A 48-year-old man who was travelling from Chennai to Kolkata succumbed due to acute sickness here on Sunday. The person has been identified as Ashok Kumar Sharma who was flying on a Spice Jet aircraft today morning.

Sharma's health deteriorated on board after which Spice Jet 623 flight had to make an emergency landing at Bhubaneswar's Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA).

After receiving the medical emergency alert, Airport Authority of India's fire ambulance rushed the passenger to Apollo Hospital here. He developed breathing problems and was reportedly paralysed. The doctors declared Sharma dead at the hospital.

The body was sent to Capital Hospital for autopsy. Meanwhile, the flight which made an emregency landing at 11:15 am, took off for Kolkata within an hour.
