Koraput: The Visakhapatnam-Kirandul passenger special train was derailed between Jeypore and Chatriput stations on Monday afternoon. According to the East Coast Railway, one Sleeper Class and three General Coaches were derailed in the incident.
No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. “After passing the Jeypore station, one Sleeper Class and three General Coaches got derailed. There were no casualties or injuries as the trollies of the train just got derailed on to sleepers,” the ECoR informed.
Accident Relief Trains have been rushed to site. Senior officials have also reached the spot and carried out a preliminary assessment. Restoration work has started under the supervision of Divisional Railway Manager Anup Satpathy.
ADRM infrastructure, Sudhir Kumar Gupta, ADRM Operations Manoj Kumar Sahoo and other officers are monitoring the relief operations. Alternate transport arrangements have been made for stranded passengers, the ECoR said.
