Bhubaneswar: Union Minister of State for External Affairs Vijay Kumar Singh on Tuesday informed that passport units will be opened in all the districts across the country in the next two years.

Singh told media at a press meet here at the BJD Odisha unit headquarters on the sidelines of his participation in the BJD-led NDA Government’s ongoing celebration of three years completion at the Centre.

Addressing media, the Minister of State for External Affairs said, “There are 800 head post offices in the country. A post office passport unit will be opened in all of them. It’s because the citizens of a district will be facilitated not to venture out of their respective districts to have their passports made.”

“Hence this year, we are going to open such 150 passport units in the post offices. Accordingly, we’ll touch the 800 target. I’m optimistic that passport offices will be in all the districts in the next two years,” he informed.
