The patient, identified as Subir Saridar (29) from Bargarh district, was rushed to the hospital today for treatment after he reportedly cut his throat with a sharp object. He allegedly tried to cut his throat on Tuesday night and was admitted to Bargarh District Headquarters Hospital for treatment. As his condition deteriorated, he was referred to VIMSAR.
According to eyewitnesses, Subir was asked to wait for surgery outside the Operation Theatre (OT) of VIMSAR when he managed to escape and tried to jump from the first floor. He was, however, rescued and readmitted to the hospital with serious injuries.
It is believed that the patient’s mental state was not stable, which might have led to this incident.
