Cuttack: Tension erupted at a private nursing home under Manglabag police limits in Cuttack following the death of a 14-year-old boy due to alleged medical negligence by doctors on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Rashmi Ranjan Mallick, a resident of Jajpur district. He allegedly died after being administered a wrong injection.
According to the family members, Rashmi was admitted to the nursing home for a minor surgery. However, doctors administered an injection just before he was being operated. He lost his consciousness and became critical soon after being administered the injection. He was rushed to a ventilator after he lost consciousness. Later, doctors declared him dead.
While Rashmi’s family members claimed that a faulty injection led to Rashmi’s death, hospital authorities termed the allegations baseless.
The deceased’s father Rabindra Mallick, meanwhile, filed a complaint with Manglabag police demanding stern action against the doctors responsible for Rashmi’s death.
Based on the complaint, police have started an investigation into the incident.
