Bhubaneswar: The poll for Patkura Assembly constituency, which was to be held on May 19, has been further postponed for 60 days in view of the extremely severe cyclonic storm FANI.
Election for the constituency had earlier been adjourned by the Election Commission of India (ECI) from April 29 to May 19 after the BJD candidate for the assembly seat, Bed Prakash Agarwalla, passed away on April 20.
Subsequently, BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had announced Sabitri Agarwalla, widow of Bed Prakash, as the party candidate for the assembly seat.
However, after the devastation caused by FANI, Patnaik moved the ECI to further adjourn the election for Patkura Assembly constituency.
