Bhubaneswar: Elated at the victory of his party candidate Sabitri Agarwalla in the Patkura by-poll today, BJD supremo-cum-Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today expressed his deep sense of gratitude to the voters of the assembly constituency in the politically sensitive Kendrapara parliamentary constituency.
In his media reactions at Naveen Niwas here today afternoon, the regional satrap said, “I would like to express my deep gratitude to the people of Patkura for electing the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate in this election.”
“We will continue to work very hard for Patkura in the development and welfare programmes,” he averred.
He further stated, “I also want to thank the leaders and workers of the Biju Janata Dal for having worked so hard in this election.”
Soon after the result poured in, the euphoric party leaders and workers went out on a grand procession to Naveen Niwas from the BJD State Party Headquarters here.
Notably, BJD has already won 112 assembly seats (Naveen had contested from two seats and later quit Bijepur) in the general elections while poll to Patkura had been postponed twice following the sad demise of its candidate Bed Prakash Agarwalla and later owing to the devastating FANI Cyclone.
Victorious BJD candidate Sabitri Agarwalla is the wife of late Bed Prakash Agarwalla who was also the sitting MLA after having won Patkura seat in 2014 polls.
