Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi passionately advocated for making Odisha the favourite destination for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in India during the Joint Business Session held as part of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2025.

Addressing a distinguished gathering of Indian diaspora entrepreneurs and visionaries, Majhi highlighted Odisha’s immense potential as an investment hub, emphasizing its strategic location, abundant natural resources, and investor-friendly policies.

In his address, the Chief Minister extended a warm welcome to the attendees, referring to Odisha as the “Land of Opportunities.” He stated, “India is the favourite destination of global FDI, and we want to make Odisha the favourite destination of FDI in India.”

Majhi underscored Odisha’s competitive advantages, including its position as the second-richest state in mineral resources, robust infrastructure with national highways, ports, and rail corridors, and a skilled workforce available at optimal costs. He also highlighted the peaceful law and order situation and the state’s track record of stable political governance.

The Chief Minister elaborated on the state’s ambitious growth vision under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aligning with the national goals of a $5 trillion economy and the “Purvodaya” initiative to drive development in eastern India. Majhi set an ambitious target for Odisha to become one of India’s top five economies by 2047, with a $1.5 trillion economy by then.

“Odisha is not just rich in resources but also offers unparalleled opportunities in emerging sectors like renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, petrochemicals, biotechnology, and tourism. With the Double Engine Governance, we are committed to realizing these goals,” he added.

As Odisha prepares to host the Utkarsh Odisha: Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 in Bhubaneswar, Majhi extended an invitation to global investors and diaspora members to participate in shaping Odisha’s growth story. He expressed confidence that the state’s investment-friendly ecosystem, coupled with the central government’s infrastructure push and visionary policies, would accelerate Odisha’s transformation into a leading investment destination.

The Chief Minister concluded his address with a call to action: “Come, invest in Odisha. Invest in the future.” His appeal resonated strongly with the audience, setting the tone for Odisha’s vibrant economic future.

The session witnessed participation from key dignitaries, including Union External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Odisha’s Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain, along with business leaders from the Indian and Odia diaspora.
