Nabarangpur: Odisha Vigilance sleuths today intercepted Project Director (PD) of Watershed Development, Nabarangpur Laxmidhar Jena and recovered Rs 2.2 lakh cash from his possession.
Acting on credible information that Jena was carrying ill-gotten money collected from various sources, Vigilance officials intercepted him while he was proceeding from his office to his residence on Nabarangpur – Majhiguda bypass road. During interception cash of Rs 2,20,000 was recovered from his possession which he could not account for satisfactorily.
Following the interception, the Vigilance conducted simultaneous house searches at his rented residence at Dream Colony No.1 in Majhiguda of Nabarangpur; his double storied residence at Bijipur in Tamando area of Bhubaneswar; and his house at Singhari Bagicha in Kumutipatna of Balukhand in Puri.
While searches at the aforementioned places are underway, officials of the anti-corruption agency have so far recovered further cash amounting to Rs 1,00,000 from Jena residential house at Nabarangpur.
The Vigilance has so far unearthed 09 plots belonging to Jena in prime areas of Bhubaneswar, Khurda and Puri.
