Bhubaneswar: The beneficiaries under food security scheme in Odisha will now be provided monthly ration under the public distribution system (PDS) for January, 2025.

According to an official press release, for this, the state government has directed the district collectors of all the districts to make arrangements for the lifting of PDS rice from government godowns. To serve the purpose, lifting has been started since 6th of this month. In the last 14 days, the district collectors of both Nabarangpur and Deogarh districts have completed lifting the rice earmarked for their districts by Friday. Other districts will complete the lifting of PDS rice by today itself.

Dealers in many parts of the state have started the distribution to beneficiaries at government fair price shops and dealer points to the beneficiaries and the process will be completed by 25th of this month.

In the interest of the beneficiaries, monthly ration will be given to them. In a meeting held recently in the presence of the Minister for Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Krushna Chandra Patra and Principal Secretary of the Department Sanjay Kumar Singh along with other senior officials, a decision was taken regarding the release of monthly ration and all the District Collectors and District Chief Civil Supply Officers have been advised to take necessary steps for this.

Apart from this, the district collectors have been asked to further speed up the process of e-KYC of the beneficiaries and complete it by next month.
