Pegasus Spying Row: Congress Activists Burn Effigies Of Modi, Shah

Bhubaneswar: Condemning snooping of phones of several persons, including political leaders, members of the judiciary and journalists, over a hundred Congressmen today staged a demonstration at the Master Canteen Square here.

The protesting Congress workers set fire to effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Terming telephone tapping using Pegasus spyware as illegal and a violation of the right to privacy, the demonstrators demanded the resignation of Shah.

“Snooping on politicians, members of the judiciary and the press by using the spyware is a condemnable act of the Central government. This is an act of treason, a crime against the country. We are protesting against this,” said Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik speaking to reporters.

We are demanding a judicial inquiry into the allegations, Patnaik added.

Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik, senior leaders Sarat Patnaik and Sivanand Ray, NSUI State president Yasir Nawaz took part in the demonstration.
