Bhubaneswar: Senior Congress leader and MP Rahul Gandhi today announced a slew of guarantees to be implemented if the party came to power in Odisha and the Centre in the ensuing Lok Sabha and Assembly polls.
Addressing a massive public gathering in Cuttack’s Salipur, the Congress leader promised to return the public money looted by the State and central government.
Congress will directly transfer Rs 2,000 per month to the bank accounts of the women in the State every month if voted to power, he said.
The unemployed youths will get Rs 3,000 per month through their bank accounts. LPG cylinders will be provided at Rs 500. The farmers will get a minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 3,000 per quintal of paddy.
The former AICC president also guaranteed employment opportunities for the youths under ‘Pehli Naukri Pakki’ scheme.
The government would provide a job if anyone approached for it. The educated youth mass will be imparted the best vocational training once Congress comes to power, Gandhi added.
“We will also transfer Rs 1 lakh to crores of accounts to make people lakhpati. Narendra Modi is waiving off the loans of industrialists, but Congress will waive off loans of farmers. I promised that the remuneration of ASHA and Anganwadi workers would be doubled if our party came to power. The wage of the labourers under MGNREGA wage will be increased to Rs 400. We will ensure land, forest and water rights of the tribals in the country, the Congress leader said.
Before addressing the rally at Salipur, Rahul Gandhi also visited ‘Utkal Gourav’ Madhusudan Das’ birthplace at Satyabhamapur and offered floral tributes on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
