Bhubaneswar: A pet dog was moved out of a colony in the State Capital on Wednesday, days after biting a minor boy. However, the owner of the dog has moved court against the decision. The fate of the dog will now be decided by the court.
Reportedly, Infocity Police had issued a notice to the dog owner to send the dog away. On Wednesday, police and enforcement squad of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) reached the colony to see the dog is shifted or not. The dog was taken away by the relatives of the owner.
Earlier on November 6, the American Akita breed pet dog of Shrabani Patnaik had attacked 8-year-old Arjun at Tapaswini Colony in Patia area under Infocity police limits. Arjun suffered wounds on his back and stomach. He underwent surgery and received 10 stitches along with 30 injections followed by anti-rabies vaccines after the incident.
Based on the complaint of Arjun’s parents, Infocity Police registered a case against the dog owner under Section 289 (negligent conduct with respect to animals) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
