Pet Parrot’s Death: Mortal Remains Consigned To Flames, Ex-Army Man’s Family In Grief

Nabarangpur: Pet animals are never pastime for the owner and kin as they carve a niche in both the head and heart of the family members following a deep sense of attachment and above all love, affection as well as humanity.

It has been evident in the wake of sad demise of a pet parrot belonging to Guli Patana Sahi in the town of Umerkote here. A pall of gloom has descended on the family of an ex-Army man Lochan Swain.

Being a cute bird, Ruby (fondly called) was a part and parcel of the family for the last 30 years. Now the family members are in deep mourning following their own pet parrot Ruby’s sudden death yesterday. They are all in a deep sense of nostalgia as Ruby used to play and dine with the children of the Swain family.

Instead of dumping the body of the departed soul, the funeral was performed as per the Hindu tradition and custom. Thus, the mortal remains of the bird were consigned to the flames on the house premises and was bidden a tearful adieu amid a sombre ambience. Not only the senior family members, but also the kids have been into a deep state of mourning.

Lamenting the sad demise, the ex-Army man also informed that their very own Ruby’s tenth day and 12th day post death rituals will also be solemnized in accordance with the Hindu tradition and custom.
