Balasore: A pick-up vehicle transporting cattle illegally overturned at Bankitira Street under Khira block in Odisha’s Balasore district on Tuesday night resulting in the death of four cattle dead.
Alert villagers rescued the remaining cattle and informed the police. The police arrested the driver of the pick-up van Khaira Adu.
According to reports, the incident occurred when a pick-up vehicle transporting eight cattle illegally rammed against a roadside electricity pole near Bankitira Street and overturned. While four cattle died in the mishap, four others were rescued by the local people.
The region is infamous for illegal cattle transport and, hence, locals have demanded that the police take stringent measures to curb the menace.
