Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police on Saturday issued an advisory to the public to remain alert and not fall prey to scammers by clicking on the link they get on their mobile phones to change their WhatsApp theme to pink.
The Odisha Police through a tweet has cautioned the public that Pink Whatsapp is a new trick of cyber fraudsters.
Odisha Police have warned that if anyone receives any link on his/her mobile phone for updating WhatsApp one should not click on the link even by mistake.
The moment one clicks on the link there is the possibility of all important and confidential data on the phone getting stolen, the Odisha Police added.
“All you need to do is delete the message immediately,” the Odisha Police tweet concluded.
A new trend to commit cyber crime is being used by criminals/scammers by sending messages to WhatsApp users to download a ‘WhatsApp Pink’ link.
Actually, this WhatsApp pink link is being used by criminals for tricking users to install a pink themed version of WhatsApp, which steals their personal information and data.
