Puri: Three-tier security system has been put in place to guard the strongroom storing the EVMs after the completion of the voting process in the bye-election for Pipili assembly constituency in Puri.
SP Kanwar Vishal Singh informed that the innermost tier or cordon is guarded by BSF jawans, the middle cordon by State Armed Police personnel, and the outer cordon by the Armed Police Reserve (APR) of the district.
Some revenue officials are also on duty at the strongroom. Only authorized persons are being allowed into the area after following proper procedure.
An Assistant Commandant rank officer is supervising the security. Two Inspectors and five Sub-Inspector and Assistant Sub-Inspectors have also been deployed in the area on a rotational shift basis.
Singh said that the polling held yesterday was peaceful and thanked the residents of Pipili for their cooperation. He informed that the security in the area will be intensified on the counting day i.e. October 3.
