Pipili Bypoll: Naveen To Campaign On Virtual Mode

Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president Naveen Patnaik will campaign for his party’s candidate in the Pipili bypoll- Rudra Pratap Maharathy using the virtual mode.

“Chief Minister will address the people of Pipili-Delang area at six places through the virtual platform,” informed Uma Samantaray, BJD MLA from Satyabadi constituency in Puri district.

Samantaray said that the date of the campaign by the party president will be finalized in the evening today.

A source in the BJD said that LED screens will be fixed up at six Zilla Parishad zones for the purpose.

Patnaik is one of the star campaigners of the party for the Pipili bypoll.

A total of ten candidates including one each from the BJD, BJP, and Congress, 04 from unrecognized parties, and 03 Independent candidates are in the fray for the Pipili bypoll scheduled to be held on April 17 (Saturday).

While BJD has put up Rudra Pratap Maharathy, son of deceased sitting MLA and party heavyweight Pradeep Maharathy, the BJP has fielded Ashrit Patnaik, who had lost to Pradeep Maharathy by a margin of 15,787 votes in the last election and had ranked second in the race. Similarly, Ajit Mangaraj, the candidate fielded by Congress had also contested the last election from Pipili and had polled 9,830 votes.
