**Cuttack: ** Odisha Crime Branch today informed that it would very soon appeal against the lower court’s verdict that has acquitted the accused duo in the sensational Pipili gangrape and murder case, also known as Bebina case.
Talking to media today at the Odisha Crime Branch (CB, CID) headquarters here, ADG Santosh Kumar Upadhyay said, “The case was registered in October, 2012. After receipt of the judgement copy, we immediately moved to Director, Public Prosecution. Sufficient grounds are there in case for conviction.”
“We have studied in details all aspects. Within the limitation period, we have decided to appeal in the High Court. As the case is very sensitive, we have also consulted the Advocate General today and a Special Counsel was also appointed so that the case can be properly and effectively prosecuted,” he stated.
He also stated, “The Additional Public Prosecutor (PP) who was conducting the case, he has marked lots of points are there for conviction as they are enough evidence. As per CrPC, we are taking up the appeal and following up the approved procedure in the CrPC so that it results in conviction.”
