Pipili MLA Pradeep Maharathy Granted Conditional Bail
Bhubaneswar: Special designated court granted conditional bail to sitting MLA and BJD candidate from Pipili Pradeep Maharathy today. As per the court’s conditions laid down in the bail, Maharathy has to deposit Rs 50,000 against two sureties.
He has also been asked to cooperate with investigation and not to influence witnesses.
Maharathy was arrested in connection with attacking Election Commission officials. Puri SP Uma Shankar Dash informed that a case has been lodged against Maharathy under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder), 341, 353, 332, 147, 148, 149, 171 (b), 186 and 123. After his arrest, Maharathy was languishing in Jharapada jail and had been shifted to Capital Hospital after he was taken unwell.
On April 21, a team of Election Commission (EC) officials, including a magistrate, were allegedly attacked while conducting a raid in Maharathy’s farmhouse. Along with his supporters, Maharathy allegedly attacked a flying squad team led by executive magistrate Rabi Narayan Patra.
