Bhubaneswar: Susmita Panda, wife of slain lawyer Pitabash Panda, has sought security from the Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressing fear for her life and her son’s life.
In a press conference, Susmita appealed to the Chief Minister for justice, stating that her life is in danger. She said that threatening calls are being made to her son, asking him to withdraw the case. The threats, reportedly made over two phone calls from the same number, included abusive language and remarks allegedly supporting Bikram Panda, the main accused and former BJD MLA.
“I am afraid to stay at home. My son is also frightened. I have faith in the police investigation. I request that the arrested person not be released from jail,” said the slain lawyer’s wife.
Susmita Panda further stated that she was shocked to learn about Bikram Panda’s alleged involvement in the murder, as he had visited their home to express condolences after Pitabash’s death.
She appealed to the Chief Minister for justice, expressing confidence that the Chief Minister will ensure that justice is served.
Notably, Pitabas Panda was murdered on October 6, and the police have arrested several people, including Bikram Panda, in connection with the crime.
On fateful day, Pitabash Panda spoke to his wife for the last time on the night of the October 6 at 8:30 pm, before his death. He had told her that he was going to the police station and court and would bring food from a hotel on his way back.
