Bhubaneswar: In a bid to popularise hockey among school students across the State, and to create awareness on Odisha hosting the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023, the Government has planned several measures.
In this series, the schools have been asked to complete their annual sports events on time. The Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) has directed District Education Officers to prepare plans for organising school, block and district level sports events.
In a letter to the DEOs, State Project Director OSEPA Saha has asked to release funds for these events and ensure that banners, standees and posters reflecting FIH Odisha Men’s Hockey World Cup are installed in all Goverment schools, block and district headquarters.
“To popularize Hockey and to commemorate the FIH Odisha Men’s Hockey World cup-2023, Annual Sports Activities to be taken up at school/Block/ District level in all the Districts with the theme of ‘Hockey World Cup: promoting Hockey sports among school children’,” the letter read.
The DEOs have been directed to share their detailed plans for organising annual sports events with OSEPA by December 8.
