Puri: Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his roadshow on Badadanda after seeking the blessings of the Holy Trinity in Puri Srimandir on Monday morning.
The Prime Minister arrived in Puri from Bhubaneswar around 7.30 am today and went straight to the Jagannath Temple to pay obeisance to Lord Jagannath and his siblings Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra. After praying there for a while, he embarked on a roadshow with Sambit Patra, the BJP Lok Sabha nominee for the Puri constituency, and the MLA candidates under the Parliamentary seats.
The entire area has been cordoned off for the roadshow. Sniffer dogs and bomb squads have been deployed for the security of the Prime Minister, while the area has been declared a ‘no-fly zone’ and sanitized ahead of the roadshow.
Expecting lakhs of party workers and leaders, temporary barricades have been erected on both sides of the Grand Road. A carcade rehearsal was held on Sunday and Special Protection Group (SPG) commandos reviewed the security arrangement for the Prime Minister’s roadshow.
After the roadshow, which is expected to last around an hour, the Prime Minister will leave for Angul. He will address election rallies in Angul and Cuttack to seek votes for BJP party candidates. Modi will address an election rally at 9:30 am in Angul stadium. Subsequently, he will engage in a Vijay Sankalp rally at Killa Padia in Cuttack, slated for around 11:30 am.
